Testimonials

“To Xenophon, You guys are making a difference. You take in kids that normal camps don’t. This camp is the best. The way the kids come together at this place is amazing to me. Xenophon Forever – P.S. I really like it here!Ben (Student)

“My daughter loves Xenophon. She is always welcomed with smiles and staff encouragement. She loves the horses and they seem to understand her. She does not know it is therapy. It is just fun.”  (Parent)

“It has been a highlight in my choices of how to best serve my community. My skills of handling horses in a safe learning environment is where I feel best qualified to participate in our therapeutic riding program. I feel blessed to be an important part of this team of special individuals in helping others. Being closely involved for over 12 years, I have been lucky to partake and observe in the amazing progress and joy our students have gained through their lessons at Xenophon. I look forward to continuing into another decade.” – Janet (Volunteer)

“The ‘Xennies’ (as we call Xenophon’s horses) have always been the primary motivators to achieve our daughter’s initial goals for eliciting simple audible speech, acquisition of fine motor skills paired with visual spatial awareness, and core body strengthening. Each year, her teacher has set new goals to further challenge and recognize Jane’s growing abilities, including practicing social skills, responsibility and flexibility with Xenophon’s staff, volunteers and peer riders. While the actual lesson remains the highlight of the week, Xenophon has offered my daughter a myriad of opportunities to participate in and represent the program in the wider community, further fostering her self-esteem and self-confidence and offering her a glimpse of a future as an independent horsewoman. “ (Parent)

“Xenophon is one of the places in the world where I am happiest. I love being around the kids, I love being around the horses, I love being around the volunteers and staff. Xenophon is what I look forward to in my week. I really feel like Xenophon has helped me become more kind, compassionate, and empathetic. I can not say enough good things about Xenophon! One of my favorite things at Xenophon is getting to watch the kids progress in their skills, and overcome obstacles that they have faced.” – Mimi (Volunteer)

“I consider my Xen peeps/family, and to be able to contribute my skills toward something that helps our students flourish is priceless. Last year, on the first day of the season it was windy, cold and pouring down rain, and I was the only groom. I just put my head down and powered through. I left Xenophon that evening wet, muddy and exhausted, and it was honestly one of the best days of my life. There is nowhere I’d rather be! “Our daughter has been riding at Xenophon for nine years. The program staff and horses are amazing. In addition to the physical benefits of riding she has gained self-confidence and has pride in her accomplishments as a rider. That success is so important for someone for whom activities can be challenging.” – Lisa (Volunteer)
