After a heartwarming ceremony, with many good people to help, our covered arena construction will begin on Monday. Our thanks to all who came to celebrate with us. A special thanks to Clark Construction and McGuire and Hester who will do so much to make this dream come true.

What a wonderful night! The SS Xenophon sailed along in calm seas with passengers that had a great time. Thank you all for joining us and helping our wonderful cause. It was the most successful gala ever.

Our proposed covered arena project has been approved by PG&E and the Orinda Planning Department. This has been a very long process that has finally come to completion. We will start the project on April 15, 2011. A special thank you to Terry Murphy for his tireless work in moving our plans through PG&E and the planning department. (Roof will be a soft green color)
Julie Taylor, who has been volunteering for Xenophon for over 9 years, was nominated for The Culture to Culture Foundation’s Senior Volunteer of the Year Award. Julie joined a distinguished group of 27 other nominees, whose years and hours of service were outstanding. All of the nominees were honored at a lovely afternoon ceremony that took place at Kensington Place in Walnut Creek. Over 150 friends and family of the nominees joined for fantastic food, Korean dancers and a Chinese Magician. All in all it was a fitting tribute to a fantastic group of seniors who give countless hours of service and are truly an inspiration. Thank you, Julie, for all you do for Xenophon. We are proud of you.
Xenophon hosted a BBQ with our Don Gabriel Way neighbors. The evening was highlighted by a demonstration of our hippotherapy and therapeutic riding programs. Our neighborhood has established an emergency program to help all of us if we have an earthquake, fire, or other devastating event. This is part of a community awareness program encouraged by the city of Orinda.
We were visited by the firefighters in their huge fire truck. This was a highlight for the kids, well – for the adults too. It was great fun to meet our wonderful neighbors and we appreciate the support that we get from them.
