Lion’s Sergeant Pepper
Joins the Xenophon Herd!

Through a grant generously donated by the Lions club we introduce Lion’s Sergeant Pepper as the newest member of the Xenophon herd. Pepper is a 10-year-old bay Appaloosa Gelding. Coming from a reigning/roping background, therapeutic riding is all new to Pepper. That said during our initial testing we were pleasantly surprised by his near non-reaction to the many therapeutic toys we presented to him. Curious and playful yet he approaches his job in a very calm manner. Pepper adores people, has an abundance of character and has been eager to take  on these new challenges. He has a willingness to work  and is a quick learner. Standing at 15.1 hands with his beautiful appaloosa eyes and light dusting of white speckles, he is an eye catcher.

2018 Center Clean-up Day, All Hands Were On Deck

Each year our center work day kick starts our preparation for the upcoming lesson season. Saturday, January 27th we were joined by over 35 volunteers. New and returning volunteers brought partners, parents, and kids to help. What a joy to see all ages working side by side to lend a hand. Volunteers helped with the usual array of tasks… tack cleaning, toy shed organizing, gardening, tree trimming, painting, office cleaning etc. Special to this year our hay barn got a major reorganization (new shelves) and our upper pasture was split into two allowing for our horses to spread out a bit more. We had such a great group – we were even able to finish earlier than anticipated! So a huge Thank you from us at Xenophon to all those who helped make the center sparkle and shine. We’re looking forward to the coming 2018 season and hope you are too.

Also a special shout out to Moraga Valley Kiwanis Club, The Boy Scouts and Lions club for sending members to help.
